The Kilchoan Hotel

Dine out in the most westerly hotel on the British mainland, have a drink and meet the locals in an often vibrant atmosphere. The Kilchoan Hotel has a traditional Highland feel and has a cosy bar as well as a separate dining room where you can enjoy some of the great produce (seasonal) of The Ardnamurchan Estate. The menu changes daily and features locally caught seafood, local venison, beef, pork and mutton. The menu also offers at least one vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dish.

The Loch Shiel Hotel

Enjoy a meal in the bar or the newly refurbished dining room in The Loch Shiel Hotel in the centre of Acharacle. The menu offers a range of traditional dishes including seafood, steaks, burgers, and pizza. Children are very welcome and there is a special wee ones menu with prices from £5 (2020). Gluten free option are also available.

The Salen Hotel

You can choose to eat in the stylish dining room or the more relaxed sun room when you visit The Salen Hotel in the village of Salen at the start of The Ardnamurchan Peninsula. The hotel also has a cosy bar which is a great place for a drink and a chat with the locals. The Salen Hotel offers a wide ranging menu using locally produced meat and fish as far as possible. As well as traditional favourites including local venison, beef, lamb and seafood, The Salen Inn offers a range of pizzas.

West Ardnamurchan Community Garden

The West Ardnamurchan Community garden was established in 2010 as part of an initiative across Scotland to take action on climate change. By growing locally, food miles and the carbon footprint of West Ardnamurchan is reduced. As well as providing fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables to locals and visitors, the garden also encourages others to grow their own and lead a healthier more sustainable lifestyle. Produce is available when in season from the small roadside shop.

Lochan nan al Campsite

Watch out for wild fowl on the wee tidal lochan in front of Lochan nan al campsite during the spring and early summer months. Translated from Gaelic as The Small Loch of Broods, this is a good place to look for otters too throughout the year. Kilchoan, with a hotel and bar is a pleasant 15 minute walk away as are the ancient standing stones of Greadal Fhinn and the historic ruins of St Comghan's Church.

The Ardnamurchan Campsite

The Ardnamurchan Campsite is situated just outside the Village of Kilchoan on the southern coast of The Ardnamurchan Pennsula on croft land sloping gently down to the sea shore. The campsite has 25 terraced pitches, nine of which are located just above high water mark allowing you to attune to the rhythm of the coast. Electric hook up is available on several of the pitches. There is a shower block, fridge and washing up facilities on site and information about the local area is provided in the recreation/study room.

The Ardnamurchan Bunkhouse

The Ardnamurchan Bunkhouse offers eco friendly self catering accommodation in eight ensuite bedrooms including single, double and family rooms. In addition there is a shared kitchen and dining room enabling guests to either eat together or separately. There is also a games area with pool table, table tennis and board games to entertain yourself in the evenings, though with an abundance of wildlife and dramatic landscape on the doorstep you may be otherwise distracted.

Mingarry Lodges

Get back to nature and stay in a cosy wildlife focussed woodland cabin. Enjoy close encounters with pine martens, red squirrels and a host of other wildlife. Each lodge sleeps up to four in a double and a twin bedroom, with a separate bathroom and shower room. There is also a well equipped kitchen, with separate dining area, and a comfortable sitting room. Situated in the small working crofting community of Mingarry, 3km from the village of Acharacle, the two cabins provide an ideal base to explore Moidart and Ardnamurchan, as well as The Small Isles, Mull, Fort William and Lochaber.

Loch Shiel Jetty

Loch Shiel Jetty in Acharacle has long served as a site to observe the night skies. The Jetty is located on the south side of Loch Shiel and is accessed via a minor road adjacent to the Loch Shiel Hotel. There is parking and a covered area at the end of the road.

Please be aware that the wooden jetty can be very slippy and it is best avoided.

Good views are afforded across Loch Shiel to the north from the bank side.
