The recycling centre in Kilchoan is situated on the road to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse just opposite the village fire station.  It has facilities for paper, glass, food and drink cartons, food tins, drink cans and aerosols and plastic pots, tubs and trays.  A little bit more than your average village recycling point, but when you are in such a remote and beautiful place there can be no excuse for littering so please recycle your waste if you can not take it home with you.

Don't go short when you're way out west and fill up your car at The Ferry Stores filling station in Kilchoan.  Maybe the most westerly fuel station on mainland Great Britain, and certainly one of the most quirky...  Listen out for corncrake in spring time and treat yourself to an ice cream as you enjoy the view over Loch Sunart.

These toilets and showers and situated next to The Ferry Stores and a short walk from Kilchoan Jetty.  Open daily from 09:00-20:00 and longer during the summer months these facilites are open to the public, campers and maritime visitors.  Showers cost £1 per shower and all proceeds go to the upkeep of Kilchoan Jetty which is also run by The West Ardnamurchan Jetty Association as a free facility for visitors to launch and retrieve boats.

Kilchoan Community Centre is situated on Pier Road in Kilchoan on the way to the CalMac Ferry terminal.  It hosts regular local produce markets in its large hall each year as well as playing host to several ceilidhs and community events.  Nearby Kilchoan Community Park is a great place to let the children have a play or have a picnic.

Situated 30m from the CalMac ferry terminal in Kilchoan these public toilets are a great place to take a comfort break.  The loos are open 24/7, are currently free, and also make a good stoping off point if you are touring West Ardnamurchan when other facilites are closed.  There is a large car park nearby and if you wander through the gate into the rough grazing beyond towards the coast you may catch sight of the ever elusive otter.

The Glenuig recycling Point is situated next to The Glenuig Community Shop on the side of the A861.  Recycle your glass bottles here rather than taking then home with you.  Best to bring a few at a time to give you a good excuse to linger and increase the chances of meeting some of the local sheep.  Look out for great northern divers at high tide too.

The Glenuig Community Shop is staffed by local volunteers and is generally open most afternoons.  The shops stocks a good range of provisions as well as some local gifts.  It also has a good selection of ice creams too which can be enjoyed watching the sheep from the bench outside the shop.  Watch out for divers and otters on The Sound of Arisaig too.  A great place to catch up with the locals and find out what is happening in the Village Hall and Inn.

Shielbridge Hall in the centre of Acharacle hosts regular dances, ceilidhs and community events throughout the year.  There are regular produce markets over the summer months with lunches provided by the local community.

The Acharacle Community Centre is one of the main hubs for the local community of Acharacle and surrounds.  It hosts local meetings and supports the community through lunch clubs, meeting rooms and a reuse project.  There is a washing machine available for hire as well as shower facilites.

Morvern Medical Centre is situated on the approach to the village of Lochaline  The practice provides medical care for about 350 residents of Morvern as well as for visitors and temporary workers in the area

The centre of village life in Lochaline for over 50 years and a commuity hub and venue.  It hosts regular produce fayres and events throughout the year and a great place for visitors to meet and get to know the locals.

The Lochaline Stores is open all year and sells a wide range of groceries, bread, houshold goods, newspapers and alcohol.  There is also a post office counter in the store which is so so useful for buying stamps to put on your postcards to friends and family.  The store is open Monday-Saturday 08:30-18:00 and Sundays 11:30-14:00.  There is also a small launderette at the side of the shop as well as the fuel pumps in the car parking area.

The Lochaline Filling Station is run by The Morvern Community Trading Company to ensure the local community has access to this vital service.  The pumps are fully automated and there is a 24/7 card payment system in place.  A great place to fill up if you are heading out to The Isle of Mull for the day.

The public conveniences in Lochaline are situated just by the ferry terminal just opposite The Lochaline Snack Bar.  Very convenient if you have just missed the ferry to The isle of Mull and are waiting in the queue for the next one or planning a days walking from Lochaline.

As far as the loo scene goes, this is maybe the greenist. Take comfort in the fact that you are making a small contribution to the well being of the wee bugs and creepy crawlies that live in the heart of the Atlantic oak woodlands. Architectually desgned, these loos are well worth a visit, though watch out for those pesky kelpies from the nearby lochan.

Sgoil na Coille, or The Salen Wood School is tucked away in the woods along The Gaelic Alphabet Trail in the atlantic oakwoods in Salen.
