The character of a place is often reflected in the range and quality of its local produce and cuisine, and Ardnamurchan is no exception. This wonderful Highland landscape is the realm of red deer, Highland cattle, wild goat and free roaming sheep. This has resulted in a traditional Highland cuisine based on the bold rich succulent and earthy flavours of the local produce. Beef, lamb, pork and venison can all be purchased locally.

The bounty of the sea, lochs and rivers is variously reflected in the clean, delicate and mild flavours of the fresh water fish to the bolder flavours of a variety of seafood and local shellfish. There is also a tradition of smoking various fish, meat and cheeses in the area. Salmon and a variety of shellfish can also be sourced locally or delivered by arrangement.

There is also a tradition of smoking fish, cheeses and other local produce. Make time for a visit to Ardshealach Smokehouse at Glenuig to sample these rich smoky flavours.
