hey punk... say hello to the caterpillar of the vapourer moth - a wee beastie with an interesting life cycle. The males fly in the day and the females are flightless. Freed from weight limitations associated with flight, females can grown to a length of 18mm. Female caterpillars feed for longer than males and grow to larger sizes. Not so good if you are a gardener though... #ardnamurchan #wildaboutardnamurchan #lochaber #wildlochaber #wildaboutlochaber #wildscotland #myoutdoorcapital #vapourermothcaterpillar #vapourermoth #rustytussockmothcaterpillar #ukmoths

Goose barnacles washed up on The Singing Sands. In days long ago it was thought that barnacle geese developed from these filter feeding crustaceans partly because of their similarity in colour and shape, and partly because no one appreciated that birds migrate. #wildaboutardnamurchan #wildlochaber #wildaboutlochaber #ardnamurchan #goosebarnacles #myoutdoorcapital #visitscotland #scotlandisnow #wildscotland #instascotland #scottishhighlands #vshighlands
