Morvern Medical Centre

Morvern Medical Centre is situated on the approach to the village of Lochaline  The practice provides medical care for about 350 residents of Morvern as well as for visitors and temporary workers in the area

If you require medical advice whilst in the area you should contact the NHS24 helpline for non emergencies on 111 in the first instance.  They will then advice on the appropriate course of action.

 

Lochaline Stores and Post Office

The Lochaline Stores is open all year and sells a wide range of groceries, bread, houshold goods, newspapers and alcohol.  There is also a post office counter in the store which is so so useful for buying stamps to put on your postcards to friends and family.  The store is open Monday-Saturday 08:30-18:00 and Sundays 11:30-14:00.  There is also a small launderette at the side of the shop as well as the fuel pumps in the car parking area.

Achnaha Community Woodland Composting Loo

This is maybe the best situated composting loo in Scotland.  Enjoy the bluebells in spring, a wander in the woods or a dip in the Sound of Mull after taking your comfort break.  The loo is situated mid way around the walk with circumnavigates Achnaha Community Woodlands, so maybe not so handy if you are in a rush on your way between Lochaline and Drimnin, but if you have time the walk is just magical in late spring with bluebells carpeting the woods and you are guaranteed a memorable wee stop-off.

Lochaline Filling Station

The Lochaline Filling Station is run by The Morvern Community Trading Company to ensure the local community has access to this vital service.  The pumps are fully automated and there is a 24/7 card payment system in place.  A great place to fill up if you are heading out to The Isle of Mull for the day.

Nc'nean Distillery

Nc'nean is an abbreviation of Neachneohain, meaning The Queen of Spirits in Gaelic. This young distillery has been producing whisky spirit since March 2017 and has a range of Botanical spirits for sale based on the unaged whisky spirit. Like Neachneohain, a fierce protector of nature, the distillery has high environmental ambitions and was the first fully organic distillery in Scotland.

Ardtornish Kitchen Garden and Estate Shop

The old estate gardens at Ardtornish were restored in 2015 and are now producing high quality fresh fruit and vegetables for sale. You can visit the gardens to see the vegetables enjoying the mild Atlantic climate and buy some to take home and enjoy from the Estate shop.

The Ardtornish Estate shop also sells meat produced on the Estate including lamb, mutton, and beef from Highland cattle. Wild venison from The Estate is also available in season. A variety of cuts are available ranging from prime fillet steak to burgers and mince and are all packaged and frozen for convenience.

The Lochaline Hotel

The Lochaline Hotel is a small family run hotel in the village of Lochaline just 10 minutes walk away from the ferry terminal for sailings to The Isle of Mull. Tasty home cooked meals are available in the cosy restaurant and you can also enjoy a drink in the bar which has views over the Sound of Mull.
