Kilchoan Visitor Showers and Toilets

These toilets and showers and situated next to The Ferry Stores and a short walk from Kilchoan Jetty.  Open daily from 09:00-20:00 and longer during the summer months these facilites are open to the public, campers and maritime visitors.  Showers cost £1 per shower and all proceeds go to the upkeep of Kilchoan Jetty which is also run by The West Ardnamurchan Jetty Association as a free facility for visitors to launch and retrieve boats.

 

Ardnamurchan Lighthouse Shop and Cafe

As well as serving as cafe and ticket office, The Stables Coffee Shop at Ardnamurchan Lighthouse has a small, but well stocked gift shop selling local crafts and souveniers.  The Ardnamurchan Lighthouse complex is run by the local community as a social enterprise and all profits are put to the upkeep of the historic lighthouse.

The  Ardnamurchan Lighthouse complex also has a toilet, open during cafe opeing hours (10.00-17.00 April-October innclusive) to ensure you will not get caught short when you are way out west.

Kilchoan Post Office and Ferry Stores

The Ferry Stores is a great place to stock up if you are staying Way Out West and also has a post office counter and fuel station.  If you're just passing through on the way to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse or Sanna Bay this is a great place to stop off and buy an ice cream to enjoy on the benches opposite overlooking the jetty.

Kilchoan Community Centre

Kilchoan Community Centre is situated on Pier Road in Kilchoan on the way to the CalMac Ferry terminal.  It hosts regular local produce markets in its large hall each year as well as playing host to several ceilidhs and community events.  Nearby Kilchoan Community Park is a great place to let the children have a play or have a picnic.

Their toilets are open to the public during centre opening hours and there are a couple of showers which are operated by token available from the friendly staff.

Loch Shiel Garage

Loch Shiel Garage is situated in the centre of Acharacle opposite The Loch Shiel Hotel. The friendly team offer a full range or repairs services including MOTs, full diagnostics and repairs as well as carrying a large range of tyres.  Loch Shiel Garage also operates a breakdown and recovery service covering Ardnamurchan and beyond.  Car hire is also available.

Kilchoan Public Conveniences

Situated 30m from the CalMac ferry terminal in Kilchoan these public toilets are a great place to take a comfort break.  The loos are open 24/7, are currently free, and also make a good stoping off point if you are touring West Ardnamurchan when other facilites are closed.  There is a large car park nearby and if you wander through the gate into the rough grazing beyond towards the coast you may catch sight of the ever elusive otter.

Acharacle Village Shop and Post Office

The Acharacle Village Shop stocks a wide range of Groceries, newspapers, freshly baked bread, refreshments, snacks, wines, beers and spirits etc. as well as a good and varying selection of local produce.  David and Wendy always provide a warm Highland welcome and are a mine of local information.

The store also has a post office counter open during shop opening hours with a full range of post office services.

Allt an Dorran

Allt an Dorran is situated in the lovely coastal village of Salen on the Ardnamurchan peninsula and is a short walk away from the Salen Inn and the Salen Jetty Shop, the latter stocking groceries and local produce.  This large spacious bungalow offers two double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms and accommodates up to nine guests.

Brackenbrae Holiday Cottage

Come stay awhile in this spacious family friendly  cottage set in its own grounds and with lovely views over Loch Shiel.  Brackenbrae Cottage is situated in the small crofting village of Acharacle which supports a grocery store, post office, artisan craft shop, cafe and a hotel.   Brackenbrae Cottage offers three bedrooms which include a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms,  one with ensuite facilities.  There is also a separate bathroom with bath.

Viking Cottage

The wee village of Glenuig is a great base for a holiday with sandy beaches and walks nearby as well as being well positioned to explore, Moidart, Ardnamurchan and The Road to The Isles. The four bed roomed Viking Cottage is situated adjacent to The Glenuig Inn where food is served all year and nearby to Glenuig Hall which hosts occasional music and art nights. Glenuig also has a small shop and is home to The Glenuig History House and Ardshealach Smokehouse.
