The Isle of Mull is a great destination for a day trip when you are staying in the Ardnamurchan area. You can hop on the ferry from Kilchoan as a foot passanger and enjoy a day in and around Tobermory, or you can take your car from either Kilchoan (to Tobermory) or from Lochaline (to Fishnish) and travel further afield. Stroll along the waterfront taking in the shops and restaurants, pop into the Mull Museum to learn about the history of the island, enjoy a wee dram on a tour around the Tobermory distillery. If that is not enough, why not head off on a lovely coastal walk or take advantage of the abundant wildlife spotting opportunities on the island by taking an organised wildlife safari.

The ferry from Kilchoan takes around 30 minutes to reach Tobermory and is great way to travel as a foot passenger to enjoy a relaxing chill out day in this lovely coastal village, sometimes known as Balamory. Remember to look out for the Tobermory cat on the High Street. There is also a great walk along the coast to Aros Park. If you are feeling energetic, you could maybe cycle to Glengorm Castle where there are more great walks and wildlife spotting opportunities. Alternatively, you can opt to take your car on the ferry and drive to Glengorm or further afield with a chance of seeing white-tailed eagles on Loch Frisa or otters on Loch Na Keal.

Whilst there is plenty of space for foot passengers on the ferry from Kilchoan, there is less space for cars and you are advised to turn up early in the peak Summer months. Alternatively, you can catch the ferry between Lochaline and Fishnish. A shorter crossing, more space for cars and a great option if you want to take a circular car (or bicycle) tour around Mull and Ardnamurchan.
