Heatherbank Guesthouse

The Sunart Centre in a community hub and venue for Strontian, Sunart and Ardnamurchan.  There is a year round programme of events including music, theatre, cinema, local fayres and workshops.  The Sunart Centre is also home to Ardnamurchan Library which is open for both locals and visitors to join.

Strontian Stores

Strontian Stores offers a wide range of groceries, fresh vegetables, frozen produce, beers, wines and spirits as well as stocking a good range of hardware and homeware.  It is part of the KeyStore franchise so you will find regular offers to choose from as well as newspapers, cards, gifts and local products too. The hardware section stocks a good variety of electrical, plumbing, gardening and household items and has saved many a trip to Fort William or beyond.

Woodland Pottery and Crafts

Woodland Pottery offers a wide range of slip-cast and hand painted pottery.  Amanda has a workshop in the shop so you can see the pottery in various stages of production and see her decorate it on site too.

Woodland Pottery stocks a wide range of both decorative and utilitarian items such as clocks, teapots, cups, vases, bowls, plaques, animal figures and more.  You are bound to find a great memento of your Ardnamurchan holiday.  As well as pottery the shop also stocks a range of hand knitted wollenware.

Oakwood Tourism and Crafts

Oakwood Tourism and Crafts is a community run outlet in the centre of Strontian supporting local art and craft businesses and supplying tourist information.  The shop is run by a friendly team of local volunteers who have indepth knowledge about the local area to allow you to get the most out of your holiday and match you with the appropriate souvenier to take back home.

Strontian Police Station

Strontian Police Station is the base for local police services arcross Ardnamurchan with a team of two dedicated officers, though the police stations at Mallaig and Fort William provide additional support.

Strontian Recycling Point

Strontian Recycling Point has facilities for mixed glass as well as a collection point for recycling clothing.  Situated in the village centre close to the village shop and police station.

The Highland Council does not offer door step recycling of glass in the household blue bins so if you are on holiday here and your accommodation has no specific facility to recycle glass you can drop off your empties here.

The Salen Composting Toilet

As far as the loo scene goes, this is maybe the greenist. Take comfort in the fact that you are making a small contribution to the well being of the wee bugs and creepy crawlies that live in the heart of the Atlantic oak woodlands. Architectually desgned, these loos are well worth a visit, though watch out for those pesky kelpies from the nearby lochan.
