The Acharacle Community Centre is one of the main hubs for the local community of Acharacle and surrounds. It hosts local meetings and supports the community through lunch clubs, meeting rooms and a reuse project. There is a washing machine available for hire as well as shower facilites.
The recycling centre in Acharacle has facilities for recycling mixed glass. There are several large containers and a convenient parking area. The public toilets are nearby so you can wash your hands after recycling. Once you have recycled your bottles you can restock at the Village Store which is situated a hop and a skip away.
There are also a couple of large waste bins for visitor use. Please do not place large items in the bins or use them if they are overflowing. Please help to keep the centre of Acharacle clean and tidy.
Conveniently situated next to the bus stop and childrens play area, these public conveniences offer the ideal opportunity to freshen up before your bus trip to Fort William or a play in the park. The loos are well maintained and free to use.
Shielbridge Hall in the centre of Acharacle hosts regular dances, ceilidhs and community events throughout the year. There are regular produce markets over the summer months with lunches provided by the local community.
Loch Shiel Garage is situated in the centre of Acharacle opposite The Loch Shiel Hotel. The friendly team offer a full range or repairs services including MOTs, full diagnostics and repairs as well as carrying a large range of tyres. Loch Shiel Garage also operates a breakdown and recovery service covering Ardnamurchan and beyond. Car hire is also available.
The Pines Medical Centre in Acharacle is the main hub of the doctors' practice covering Ardnamurchan, Sunart and Moidart. The practice also holds surgeries in Kilchoan and Strontian. The practice has two doctors, nurses, a dispensary and the occasional red squirrel around the car park.
If you require medical advice whilst in the area you should contact the NHS24 helpline for non emergencies on 111 in the first instance. They will then advice on the appropriate course of action.
The Acharacle Village Shop stocks a wide range of Groceries, newspapers, freshly baked bread, refreshments, snacks, wines, beers and spirits etc. as well as a good and varying selection of local produce. David and Wendy always provide a warm Highland welcome and are a mine of local information.
The store also has a post office counter open during shop opening hours with a full range of post office services.

Come stay awhile in this spacious family friendly cottage set in its own grounds and with lovely views over Loch Shiel. Brackenbrae Cottage is situated in the small crofting village of Acharacle which supports a grocery store, post office, artisan craft shop, cafe and a hotel. Brackenbrae Cottage offers three bedrooms which include a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms, one with ensuite facilities. There is also a separate bathroom with bath.
The wee village of Glenuig is a great base for a holiday with sandy beaches and walks nearby as well as being well positioned to explore, Moidart, Ardnamurchan and The Road to The Isles. The four bed roomed Viking Cottage is situated adjacent to The Glenuig Inn where food is served all year and nearby to Glenuig Hall which hosts occasional music and art nights. Glenuig also has a small shop and is home to The Glenuig History House and Ardshealach Smokehouse.
West Highland Venison is located in the village of Mingarry some 2km from Acharacle. The small friendly shop offers a variety of venison cuts including tenderloin, steaks, casserole stewing cuts, burgers and mince produced from deer culled in the local hills and butchered onsite. Although availability is seasonal, it is always worth popping in to see what is on offer and maybe have a chat and catch up with life in the village.
You can also enjoy the venison and other local dishes in the adjacent Mingarry Park Restaurant.
